Décolleté!

I almost always wear round, close-fitting necklines. Zip through a dozen posts; you will rarely see a v-neck, scoop neck or bateau. Round is my comfort zone and, I hope, a flattering shape for my face and frame. But a friend of mine has often exhorted me to try more décolleté necklines.

I have listened to you, Desh!

This is a reach for you
You’re blowing my mind
No; you are blowing my mind

So unlike me! Not just a v-neck, but a deep v-neck. I am not sure about it, but I thought this black floral was very charming.

The flowers are pretty realistic (i.e., not abstract or impressionistic), but they look so dreamy against the black background — like bouquets dropped into infinity.

Rebecca Taylor used this floral print in many blouses and dresses this summer and they are all on sale right now, extra 30% off.
something here
Florals on black always make me think of Grace Kelly

The severity of the neckline is balanced by the lively peplum.

I’ve worn this for work with slim black pants and black flats, but I think it works casually with white pants and red sandals.

Have a fantastic weekend!
flirty
Kind of flirty, don’t you think?

  1. Looks great on you! I agree – the black background for the floral is very pretty. This is also a potential layering piece over a solid dress…

  2. I love this top – colour, pattern, style. I am a great fan of the v-neck. I think because it is a fitted top it works well for you.

  3. lovely, bravo, sayeth Desh! it hath only taken 25 years, but who counteth? (And why ith Deth speaking (writing) in old English? Desh knoweth not!) But in all seriousness–the neckline is lovely and, in truth, not daring at all, so the Directrice is not to worry. But now, having taken this small step, it is time to consider some REAL décolletage–and I feel confident that we all understand what Desh meaneth by that. But in caseth not: wider necklines too, please. Deeper and bosomy. Plunging.

So it is written, so it shall be done(th)!

  4. Now that is what I’m talking about! You look smashing in that and I’m not surprised. The print is very pretty and gentle so it doesn’t do anything but amplify your lovely person. The lower neckline is such a plus and current as well. A+ on the shopping.

  5. Echo Desh,
Flattering and something you could wear to lunch the the photographer’s parents.

Love that you expanded your comfort zone. This was a hit!

  6. Really suits you! Mirroring your jawline is the classic flattering neckline, so maybe sweetheart next? (Bit difficult to tell; you are rarely face-on in photos!)
