A Doll’s Clothes

Despite the heat, sometimes one still wants to cover up. The sun, you know, is both our friend and our foe.

While this gauzy tunic is not providing a total block from UV rays, it offers a little protection for zipping out at lunch-time or mid-afternoon for gelato.

Do you remember that two wrongs can make a right? Here, a gauzy, semi-transparent tunic and a strappy, halter-style camisole compensate for one another’s deficiencies. An ideal marriage!

A colleague and I were chatting recently about our marriages and we agreed that it is ideal when one partner is always certain that things will work out (and therefore willing to take risks in the face of sub-optimal circumstances) while the other is fretting and considering worst case scenarios.* Balance!
Balance in all things

It was very hot when we took these photos and The Photographer caught me clowning around while he was adjusting his settings.

Looking at these photos, I can’t help but think that I look a little like an American Girl doll.

Is it the empire waist of the top that looks a little like a pinafore? The rainbow platforms on my sneakers, distorting the shape of my feet? The fact that my cropped trousers look shrunken and create a vague impression that I’ve actually stuffed myself into a doll’s clothes?
Hard to say, Directrice

Potentially revealing back, denied! The proprieties shall be observed!

Regardless of our certainty, I like this strappy camisole. It is the closest thing I have right now to Cecilie Bahnsen, my newest obsession and topic for another day. Until then, you can check out her website.

I highly recommend that you buy this tunic as a layering piece for yourself. It will be handy year-round.

Have a fantastic weekend!

* In case you are wondering, I am the fretter.+ But I am a brave fretter who bravely does brave things.

  1. Cute post. I especially loved the interlude where you made different faces. 🙂 And I’m glad you revealed which of you is the optimist and which is the fretter. Though I suppose I should have been able to guess, based on your professions!
