Cover Alls

Some of you may remember the boilersuit that I bought during the pandemic. It may be the best-fitting garment I’ve ever owned; it fit like a glove straight off the rack.  All the more remarkable because the fit involved many component parts and measurements: long sleeves, shoulder seam, waist, hips, rise, full length pant legs, etc.

But things that fit like a glove . . . well, that type of precision is hard to maintain. At some point — post-pandemic, notably — it moved from fitted to obscene.

I felt the loss acutely.

Very acutely

Only one way to push through the loss: buy a bigger, better catsuit.

In the years after I bought the black boilersuit, Wildfang introduced a high-waisted model. Even cuter!

This suit (size S) is a little loose, but so comfortable.  I had the sleeves reset at my natural shoulder, but I decided I liked the pants rolled. The rolled cuffs give it a little extra insouciance.

So please am I with this slightly oversized suit in natural cotton duck, I don’t know if I would go back to the shadow-wrestling into the XS, even if I thought I could wear it without transgressing public decency laws.

They say everything happens for a reason

The first time I wore this boilersuit, The Photographer looked at me askance.

He said, “You look like you’re going to fix my car.”

Oh Photographer; even after a decade of taking my pictures, there are things you can’t understand

Can you believe he said that to me?

My first response was, You should be so lucky! If only someone in this household could fix a car.

But seriously. I look like a housepainter, not a mechanic.

I immediately asked him to order me a name plate pin, thinking this could double as a Halloween costume.

The Photographer made me this patch instead, which pleased me greatly. But don’t you think it should say Tire Center Service Manager?

Idiocracy was much funnier in 2010 than it is today

All of this is to say: I love my new coveralls.  Accessorize them with a smart bag and assertive loafers and I’m ready to litigate.

Of course I’ve worn them to work, on free-fall Thursday.

Free-fall Thursday used to be the transition day between Business Casual and Casual Friday; it is now a constructive Casual Friday

Still inspired by a mission and achieving it with great style: Wildfang, based in Portland, Oregon

Let’s support Wildfang, shall we?
Smart bag upon which my Earthly happiness is not dependent

I was trying to demonstrate a roundhouse kick, as one does, to The Photographer to prove the ease of movement permitted by the coveralls. I discovered the coveralls permit a full range of motion, but The Directrice’s joints do not!

Tilting back
Coiling
And then it all fell apart

The International Brotherhood of Catsuit Wearers is another one of my funniest posts.

Coveralls: Wildfang Essential High-waisted Coverall; Bag: Marni Trunk Bag from The RealReal; Coach Loafers; Sunglasses:  Illesteva Palm Beach
