A lightweight tweed feels so fresh in the spring. I am not one much for pastels, but this mix of black, white, and grey struck the right soft note.
This jacket is cropped short, so I’ve paired it with high-waisted, wide-legged pants.
Proportions!
The jacket is so short, revealing the waistband of my pants, that I’ve added a belt to finish the look. Empty belt loops look a little sad, don’t they?
This jacket, from JCrew this season, has charming details: gold buttons (actually, snaps) which warm the black/grey/white scheme and fringed edging at the collar, cuffs, and waist. The knit is very soft — more like a sweater than a jacket — and made predominantly of cotton with linen, some polyester and elastane for resilience, and 1% of “other” according to the label.
What goes well with tweed? Enormous fake jewels, I say.
The Dowager likes to get out and enjoy beautiful spring weather as much as anyone.
Although I am long overdue for another WordPress Reckoning (updates), I do have one user-facing improvement to announce today. There are two new categories for sorting through posts: Essential Directrice (for Directrice origin stories, year-end highlights, the Key Set, and instructional posts) and Travel (for my random musings while traveling). Just look under Accumulated Wisdom.
Jacket: JCrew Cropped Fringe-Trim Lady Jacket in Marled Yarn; Pants: JCrew but very old; Shoes: Steve Madden; Tote: Longchamp from The RealReal; Brooch: a thrift-store find discussed here and here.
I have a similar jacket from years ago from Eileen Fisher. Mine is long sleeved, but that’s pretty much a year-round thing here in the Bay Area. You look so good you’re reminding me to wear mine!
Chanel-inspired I say… and it’s sweet. You’re really rocking those shoes too.
The whole ensemble is mwah, and I get especially happy when I see that gorgeous bag brought out!
