Green Is Gold

Fans of Weirdy Green, gather ’round.

Remember this charming, but slightly challenging jacket from long ago? It’s still with me!

The Colette pants I bought from Anthropologie this summer are the perfect silhouette for this jacket. Wide-legged and slightly cropped, they set off this bias-cut, short jacket very well. A black shell underneath the jacket, a skinny, black patent leather belt, and black ballerina flats finish the look.

Just right! Pants have enough structure to hold the silhouette

Remember: Proportions are everything

This jacket was last seen with white pants — also wide-legged — and a striped tee shirt. A more casual look, but also effective.

Everything and more
This is what a Childless Cat Lady looks like

This jacket was one of my early, adventurous purchases in the mid- or late aughts.  (See also: The Dress That Started It All.) That was when I first realized that I didn’t have to dress like a lawyer to be a lawyer. And that the Internet could give me things I’d never thought to want.

Come closer and appreciate this little gem; then go back and read the original post, which provides interesting commentary

The flare of the bias cut is evident in profile
Trench coat style and little vents on the sleeves add so much interest

We’ve had the most glorious September in D.C. It’s been cooler than usual, which suits me very well. It’s nice to wear a light jacket outside in September.

Jacket: Vera Wang Lavender Label; Top: Tory Burch; Pants: Anthropologie Colette Cropped Wide-Leg Pants; Shoes: JCrew Quinn Square-toe Ballet Flats; Bracelets: John Hardy (very old)

I love this candid expression The Photographer caught; looks like my mind drifted briefly from the simple pleasure of a beautiful day to  . . . J.D. Vance

  1. And a few minutes of pure relaxation contemplating your lovely outfit and reading about it. (I volunteer with Democrats Abroad here in Mexico and we’re working nonstop to help U.S. citizens register to vote from abroad and return their ballots. So brief breaks are much appreciated.).

  2. Love this jacket, on and off you. IMO, would look great as well with a slim black dress. You definitely are a creative soul who finds the most interesting clothing items! Much enjoy your posts.

  3. I have those pants, but alas, I don’t have that splendid jacket, so I don’t wear them very often. I hope your cats are registered to vote!

  4. I don’t know what I love most about the jacket—the color, the drapey belt in back, the playful silhouette, so many choices—and it was great to see the past post for another look at styling. BTW, I *love* links to your past posts! It’s always fun to read your writing, and even more so when there’s special context. I think I’d rank the jacket with all-black ensemble slightly higher than with white/stripes, but that could just be my own bias. Glad to hear you’re enjoying some fair weather at last!
