A Very Pretty Blouse

Exhausted by my maximalist output earlier this week, I feel the need for cleansing simplicity.
It IS ok to wear a blouse and khakis and call it a day.

I did so myself just last week. Like so.
Yearning for simplicity
Yearning for simplicity

The simple life!
We’re calling it a day

I bought this blouse a while ago, thinking I would wear it under this dress, but upon receiving it realized that it would not do for so many reasons. The fabric is a stiff cotton,
the fit is very full, it’s not dressy enough. Well, that’s three reasons.

But I was charmed by the print and its workmanship.

Although you cannot probably see this — and would’t be able to see it even if you were seated across the table from me — the front features a pleated bib. Not sure why someone chose to put such workmanship into a tightly patterned dark blouse, but I appreciate it. I run my fingers back and forth across it (xylophone, picket fence) — so agreeably tactile!
Yet one yearns for just a little bit more . . . perhaps a scarf
Simplicity is peace, yet one yearns for just a little bit more . . . perhaps a scarf

Blouse wants a scarf! But which scarf: the fresh yellow-orange or the muddy tangerine? Fresh or muted?

Muddy

There’s a little yellow-orange in the blouse. The fresh scarf is a perfect match . . . but is it too perfect? The muddy tangerine is a little more interesting.

I am torn: I like both, but I think muddy wins the day. Today.

Have a fantastic weekend!

Desh: Have a tremendous birthday!

Muddy will not always prevail

Blouse: Dondup from YOOX; Jacket: JCrew; Pants: Ann Taylor; Shoes: Coach; Muddy scarf: Eileen Fisher; Fresh scarf: from one of those stores in Italy that sells linen blouses and scarves in luscious colors

  1. Muddy for the win! Looks much more sophisticated and harmonious. The fresh tangerine seems to jump off the print. Gorgeous outfit as always!
